What is the BACIC Safe Ride Home Program?
The BACIC Safe Ride Home Program is an effort by BACIC to promote responsible consumption and inform the public on alternative ways to arrive home safely from Arizona’s bars and restaurants. The Safe Ride Home Program is working with two companies (DD24-7 and ZINGO) to offer free safe rides home to 800 bar and restaurant patrons this holiday season. 800 vouchers will be distributed to select locations. These vouchers are good for one ride from a liquor licensed establishment to a consumer’s home. DD24-7 or
ZINGO will take the consumer home in the consumer’s own car and follow either by scooter or a chase vehicle, serving as the designated driver.
How were DD24-7 and ZINGO chosen?
Through an extensive interview process, BACIC chose DD24-7 and ZINGO as they were representative of BACIC’s goal of showing alternative ways in which consumers can responsibly enjoy alcohol beverages, while finding a way to get both themselves and their vehicles home safely. Designated Drivers-24/7 upon request takes their client home in their own vehicle and uses a “chase” vehicle to pick up the driver and returns to assist other clients. ZINGO places their foldable, motorized scooter in the trunk of the patron’s car
and drives the client home. Once the client and his/her car are safely at their home, the ZINGO representative hops on the scooter to meet the next client.
What are “free ride vouchers?”
“Free ride vouchers” will be distributed to select bars and restaurants in participating areas. The bar and restaurant then has the responsibility of distributing those vouchers to patrons.
How can the vouchers be used?
The restaurant or bar manager has been provided a limited number of vouchers. The establishment will provide a voucher to a customer to promote the program. The customer will be informed about the program. A manager at the establishment will initial the voucher in the specified area marked, “Authorizing Manager’s Name,” to verify the voucher. Either the establishment or the consumer will contact DD24-7 or ZINGO to schedule a ride.
Are there any restrictions?
The free ride vouchers can be used ONLY Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Dec. 4 - Jan. 3 & New Year’s Eve in participating areas (Old Town Scottsdale, Tempe Marketplace, Mill Avenue). However, consumers are still encouraged to contact ZINGO and DD24-7 at anytime to schedule a ride home (at cost).
How can I get in touch with ZINGO and DD24-7?
DD24-7 Designated Drivers 24-7 602 881 1848 ZINGO 877-663-8429
Do ZINGO and DD24-7 do drop-offs in the West Valley?
Yes. DD24-7 and ZINGO service the entire Valley. However, the BACIC Safe Ride Home Program will only offer rides from the selected areas (listed above) to the person’s residence (even if that residence is in the West Valley!).
BACIC Thanks:
